The Awards are led by Unwanted Words, an award-winning platform for up & coming LGBTQ+ poets and is possible thanks to a series of partnerships with over 15 feminist and LGBTQ+ organizations and spoken word events including Spoken Awards, Word Up, Awesome Foundation Rotterdam, The Hang-Out 010, Dona Daria, Queer Rotterdam, WORM, Erasmus Pride, Leiden Pride and more.

"These awards are our way to celebrate and acknowledge the talent in our communities and a way to help LGBTQ+ talent open doors to bigger stages and opportunities."said Luis Bracamontes, host and founder of Unwanted Words.
There are six categories to be selected during the awards ceremony including: Best Queer Performance, Poet of the Year and the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous & People of Color) Award. Winners will be selected by a panel of judges including Sandy Bosmans, representing Poetry Circle, the largest network of poets and spoken word artists in the Netherlands, Silvana Sodde, head of the Writer’s Guide and the Feminist Open Mic and Zaire Krieger, former TEDx Amsterdam speaker and winner of the Spoken Awards 2019.
The open call for participants to apply is live now and the deadline is the 6th of September 2020.
