The inspiration for the theme stems from activists and groups who stand up for who they are and who they love. Each DARE of these individuals represents a step forward in LGBTQIA + emancipation and the sense of security and freedom. 

Bey Cil, Executive Director Rotterdam Pride: “We want to encourage everyone who cannot or does not dare to be himself to take a step towards himself. Like looking for a confidential advisor, going to a safe space at an LGBTQIA + event or looking at yourself in the mirror and saying: you can be there. Every little step taken is one step closer to yourself. And one step closer to our dream: a society in which everyone feels at home. ”
